GYROKINESIS® training is a full body workout, taking the spine through the seven natural elements of movement: forward, backwards, left side, right side, twist and circular. This gentle rhythmic movement method systematically encourages improved range of motion by involving the various joints and muscles.
As a result, the movement stimulates the body’s internal organs. Different corresponding breathing patterns are integrated and the combination of movement and breath invigorates and re-educates the body to move with fluidity and power. Group classes take place in a small studio setting with only a low stool and a mat required. Classes focus on mobilizing the spine and pelvis through a series of arching, curing, twisting and spiraling movements.
These same patterns are expanded to release the hips, knees, hamstrings and quadriceps GYROKINESIS® work was developed in the 1970’s by Professional Dancer, Juliu Horvath , and remains the core of Horvath’s vast body movement/rehabilitation methodology. The work incorporates many key principles from other transforming practices: yoga, pilates, tai chi, and dance.
